ENG. Munodawafa Recognised for Public Sector Leadership Excellence

The Zambezi River Authority Chief Executive, Eng. Munyaradzi C. Munodawafa, has been recognised for outstanding leadership at the 2026 Business Awards held on Friday, 27 March 2026, at Miekles Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The award was conferred by the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network, a nonprofit organisation that empowers chief executives across sectors through leadership development and knowledge exchange. The recognition highlights exceptional performance in public sector leadership, with emphasis on strategic direction, consistency, innovation, and professionalism.

Eng. Munodawafa was ranked among the top ten professionals recognised for driving institutional performance and national impact.

The awarding body noted that the recognition reflects sustained leadership excellence, strong strategic direction in public sector operations, consistent delivery of results, innovation in addressing sector challenges, and high standards of professional conduct.

Among the landmark achievements under Eng. Munodawafa’s leadership is the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project. This is a pioneering engineering initiative widely regarded as the first of its kind globally. The project has strengthened dam safety and secured long term infrastructure resilience.

Speaking after receiving the award, Eng. Munodawafa dedicated the recognition to the Authority’s team of engineers, acknowledging their commitment and technical expertise.

“This recognition belongs to the entire team of engineers and professionals whose dedication and technical excellence continue to drive our success. The achievements we celebrate today are a direct result of their hard work, resilience, and shared commitment to delivering sustainable solutions for our region,” he said.

The recognition enhances the profile of the Zambezi River Authority as a results driven institution. It reinforces stakeholder confidence in the Authority’s leadership and its strategic role in managing shared water resources and advancing regional energy security.

The award reflects continued progress in delivering impactful programmes and maintaining strong governance and execution standards.
