The Zambezi River Authority (“the Authority”) intends to award a works contract for the maintenance of the 14.5km South Bank gravel access road for the proposed Batoka Gorge Hydro-electric Scheme (BGHES).
The Authority is a corporate body jointly and equally owned by the Governments of Zambia and Zimbabwe (“Contracting States”) and is mandated with the management of the Kariba Complex and the stretch of the Zambezi River (from Kazungula to Luangwa in Zambia and from Kazungula to Kanyemba in Zimbabwe) forming a common border between the two Contracting States.
The Authority now invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders registered in Zimbabwe for the maintenance of the 14.5km South Bank gravel access road.
The scope of work will include:
- Spot gravelling and general road maintenance
- Drainage, mitre drains, V-Drains, and splash drain maintenance
This tender is open to Zimbabwean contractors registered with the Construction Industry Federation in Zimbabwe (CIFOZ) in Category D and above. A strict due diligence exercise on at least two (2) most recent projects completed during the past three years shall be undertaken prior to award of contract.
Bidding will be conducted using National Competitive Bidding in accordance with the Authority’s Procurement Policy and Procedures. Site Visit and Pre-bid meeting will be held on 7th October 2022. The bidders are requested to meet at Victoria Falls- Deka Mouth Road (Zambezi River Authority billboard) at 0830hrs hours. Departure to Site will be at 0900 hours. A pre-bid meeting will be held at Victoria Falls- Deka Mouth Road (Zambezi River Authority billboard) at 1500 hours to clarify any issues arising from the site visit and bid document.
Questions and clarifications regarding this tender must be submitted to the Authority in accordance with provisions stated in the tender document.
Bids must be deposited in the TENDER BOX that is accessible on the 4th Floor Club Chambers, Cnr. N. Mandela/3rd Street, Harare on or before 19th October 2022 at 1600 hours Local Time, in a sealed envelope clearly marked “TENDER FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE BATOKA SOUTH ACCESS ROAD” and accompanied by a bid securing declaration. Telegraphic and telefax offers will not be accepted.
The closing date for the receipt of bids and opening of the bids is 19th October 2022, 1600hrs hours Local Time on the 4th Floor Club Chambers, Corner N. Mandela/3rd Street, Harare. This will be done in the presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend.
