The Zambezi River Authority (“the Authority”) intends to award a works contract for the maintenance of the 26.5km North Bank gravel access road for the proposed Batoka Gorge Hydro-electric Scheme (BGHES).
The Authority is a corporate body jointly and equally owned by the Governments of Zambia and Zimbabwe (“Contracting States”) and is mandated with the management of the Kariba Complex and the stretch of the Zambezi River (from Kazungula to Luangwa in Zambia and from Kazungula to Kanyemba in Zimbabwe) forming a common border between the two Contracting States.
The Authority now invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders registered in Zambia for the maintenance of the 26.5km North Bank gravel access road.
The scope of work will include:
- Spot gravelling and general road maintenance
- Drainage, mitre drains, V-Drains, and splash drain maintenance
This tender is open to Zambian contractors registered with the National Council for Construction (NCC) in Category R, Grades 4 to 6. A strict due diligence exercise on at least two (2) most recent projects completed during the past three years shall be undertaken prior to award of contract.
Bidding will be conducted using National Competitive Bidding in accordance with the Authority’s Procurement Policy and Procedures. Site Visit and Pre-bid meeting will be held on 6th October 2022.The bidders are requested to meet at Protea Hotel, Livingstone, Car Park at 0800hours. Departure to Site will be at 0830 hours. A pre-bid meeting will be held at Protea Hotel, Livingstone, Car Park at 1500 hours to clarify any issues arising from the site visit and bid document.
Questions and clarifications regarding this tender must be submitted to the Authority in accordance with provisions stated in the tender document.
Bids must be deposited in the TENDER BOX that is accessible on the Ground Floor, Reception Area, Kariba House, 32 Cha Cha Cha Road Lusaka on or before 19th October 2022 at 1600hours Local Time, in a sealed envelope clearly marked “TENDER FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE BATOKA NORTH ACCESS ROAD” and accompanied by a bid securing declaration. Telegraphic and telefax offers will not be accepted.
The closing date for the receipt of bids and opening of the bids is 19th October 2022, 1600hrs hours Local Time at Ground Floor, Reception Area, Kariba House, 32 Cha Cha Cha Road, Lusaka. This will be done in the presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend.
